See exactly where your pricing stands in the market

Compare your premiums against real bound policies from other carriers that are writing the same types of business. Benchmarks turns that comparison into a signal, not a guess.

You only know as much as what’s in your own data – and that’s not the whole picture

Product teams price personal lines against their own quotes and bound business, with no view of what other carriers are doing.

Benchmarks adds the missing half: real bound-policy data across the industry. Decisions rest on what the market is doing, not on assumptions.

Key benefits

What Benchmarks changes for your pricing and product strategy

More competitive pricing

Market-wide bound-policy data shows where your rates sit, so you price competitively without leaving premium on the table.

Sharper product strategy

Ground new products in what agents are actually writing in each market, so launches target demand that already exists.

Protected market share

Align pricing and retention strategy with what the market expects, instead of reacting after you've already lost the account.

Trust from policyholders

Fair, transparent pricing builds trust with the people you insure, not just the agents who sell for you.

Compare your pricing to the market down to the risk detail

How it works

Narrow to the risks you write

Filter by state and line-specific risk details, like liability limits or construction type, to match your book.

See your place in the full price range

Your premiums show against the market’s whole distribution, so you know whether you’re priced high, low or mid-pack.

Watch premium trends build over time

See a full year of premium history, with a trend line showing exactly where the market's been headed.

How it works

Validate a new product before launch

Test pricing and positioning against real bound-policy behavior in a market before you commit budget to it.

Understand why you're losing ground in a region

See which carriers are winning the policies you expected, and where your pricing has actually fallen behind.

Stop stitching together raters and guesswork

Common questions about Benchmarks

Ivans Insights is now part of the Applied suite for carriers, delivered here as Benchmarks. The premium trend reports, new-business-versus-renewal comparisons, and market-distribution views you used in Ivans Insights continue unchanged, and the Insights login still works at insights.ivans.com.

If your team logged in for book visibility or agency search, that capability now lives on the Marketing Insights page.

A comparative rater shows you what other carriers would quote for a given risk. Benchmarks shows you what they actually bound, at what price, once the business was written.

That distinction matters because quoted and bound premiums often diverge. Benchmarks reflects the business that actually made it onto carriers' books, not just what they offered for it.

Benchmarks covers Personal Auto, Homeowners, and Dwelling/Fire – all three of the most actively priced personal lines books in the market. Commercial lines are on the roadmap.

Personal Auto joined Homeowners and Dwelling/Fire in the current lineup as of the May 2026 release, so all three are fully supported today.

No carrier's individual numbers are ever exposed. A comparison only appears once at least five other carriers and 500 policies sit behind it, and any one carrier's share is capped at 35% of the data set.

That means what you see is always a market pattern, never a single competitor's book.

Filter to your state and the risk details specific to your line, then check the trend and distribution views for that segment.

If your premiums have moved toward the market average since the change took effect, it's tracking as intended. If not, that's a signal to revisit it before the next renewal.

Benchmarks runs on bound policies carriers report as business closes, so a change shows up once those newly bound policies flow through — typically within the same reporting cycle, not in real time.

Filter to your state and form type after the change takes effect, and the trend and distribution views update to reflect it.

Benchmarks and Marketing Insights are sibling capabilities under the same connectivity, answering different questions. Benchmarks tells you how your pricing compares to the market.

Marketing Insights tells you which agencies to target and how a specific agency's book is performing. Most product teams end up using both.
